The solution of solvent and asphalt from a prior extraction is distilled by partially immersing the rotating distillation flask of the the rotary evaporator apparatus in a heated oil bath whilst the solution is subjuected to a high vacuum. This process extracts the solvent so that the recovered asphalt sample can be usedc in further tests.
