Meteorology

This is a high quality Hygrometer using accurate stem-divided mercury filled thermometers which are made to Meteorological Office Patterns. Fitted to laminated plastic mounts with indelible
dividing and figuring obtained by engraving. The mounts are themselves mounted on black plastic laminated back plate, which is moulded in high strength plastic and resistant to warping.
The water reservoir is supported by a metal strip attached to the back plate, a cotton wick runs up from the reservoir and is threaded round a circle of muslin covering the bulb. The bulb of one thermometer is kept constantly wet by capillary action.

The BMO Mk 2 splayed-base rain gauge is manufactured to internationally-recognised specifications. The splayed-base provides greater stability compared to a traditional straight cylindrical gauge. It has a cast brass septum ring with a 127mm internal diameter. Body and other parts are copper.
