Skid Resistance

Originally developed for the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), it is used to test the skid resistance (SRV) of existing road surfaces.
It can also be used in conjunction with the polishing machine to determine PSV (polished stone value) for aggregates.
It is now also used in many other applications to test the slip resistance on pedestrian walkways & flooring, in offices, hospitals & shopping malls, both at design stage and investigating accidents.
The SKID TESTER measures the frictional resistance between a rubber slider mounted on the end of a pendulum arm & the test surface. This provides highway & flooring engineers with a routine method of checking the resistance of wet & dry surfaces to slipping & skidding.
