Straight Edge

This is used to measure irregularities in road surfaces. The apparatus consists of a lightweight beam which is supported at both ends, producing a set height above the road surface.
The surface regularity is measured by inserting an incremented wedge underneath the beam.
The beam is 3 metres long.
